Where the numbers come from.

Our screen measurements are calculated. Product-specific body measurements need a manufacturer’s specification sheet.

Screen geometry

A 16:9 rectangle and the Pythagorean theorem determine screen width and height from a diagonal. Viewing angle uses the width and the eye-to-screen distance. These are mathematical calculations, not measurements copied from a product listing.

Unit conversion

We use exactly 2.54 centimeters per inch and 12 inches per foot. Rounding happens after calculation, so changing units does not compound rounding errors.

Viewing distance context

Sony describes viewing distance as dependent on screen size, resolution, content, environment, and personal preference. Its minimum-distance guidance is different from the viewing-angle comparisons in our tools. Our angle labels are interface guidance, not a universal comfort standard.

Model specifications

The screen size chart is not a catalog of verified models for sale. We do not derive body depth, weight, stand width, mounting holes, or clearances from a diagonal. For these, find your exact model’s specification sheet and installation manual.

TV body, stand and ventilation sources

Checked October 6, 2026. US Sony BRAVIA 3 specifications use manufacturer-listed metric dimensions, separate from calculated screen geometry.

Appliance and furniture references

Checked October 6, 2026. Each linked page records the original units, regional model, measurement configuration and any source limitations. These are measurement examples, including legacy models, rather than an exhaustive buying catalogue.

Laundry product photography

Product photos from LG’s official US pages, checked October 6, 2026. These show the named reference models; fit diagrams use numerical measurements rather than image scale.

Soundbar body dimensions

These figures come from the manufacturer’s published specifications. We retain the original metric values and record exclusions such as spacers or projecting parts. They describe the main soundbar, not packaging or a separate subwoofer.

Computer monitor body dimensions

These figures come from the manufacturer’s published specifications, with the included stand unless noted otherwise. We retain the original metric values and record exclusions such as VESA mount adapters or packaging. They describe the main monitor body, not shipping cartons or accessories.

Small appliance product photos

Manufacturer reference photos show specific finishes and accessory configurations. Use the exact model dimensions and configuration notes on each guide to check fit.

Furniture product photos

IKEA reference product images show the exact furniture examples used in our guides. Finishes, accessories and open configurations are described on each page; photos do not replace dimension drawings.

Cooling and heating product photos

Manufacturer reference photos from Hunter, GE and Lasko show specific model bodies and configurations. Installation space, connections and operating clearances must be checked separately using the exact model manual.
